What You Need to Know About the Importance of Natural Light
There are a few topics that the Valley Windows team has no problem discussing over and over again. There aren’t many, but they’re each incredibly important. We hope that this speaks to our dedication towards ensuring that our valued community of customers has all of the info that they’ll need. This blog should always serve as your one-stop shop describing exactly how we provide a better view.
Today, we revert back to one such topic, which bears so much importance on so many different areas of your life. We’re talking about natural light.
First of all, back to basics. What is natural light? Natural light is what is created when you have the right windows, doors and open spaces and you don’t need to create lighting due to lamps or other lighting fixtures.
Why is it important? Well, it can certainly add a ton of value to your property, if and when you decide to put it on the market. It speaks to people, because of the many scientific, physical and emotional benefits that it can create.
Think about it. How do you feel when you’re in a tiny, dark room? You may feel slightly claustrophobic at the severe end of the spectrum, but your mood is probably impacted no matter what. Nobody wants to work, connect or relax in a space like that. (Unless the weather outside is awful and you just want to forget about it). On the other hand, when you’re in a light and open space, scientific evidence shows that you’re more creative, friendlier and ultimately happier.
The key factor? Vitamin D. It doesn’t matter if it’s the brightest and sunniest day outside, you’re still going to get that coming in – as long as you have the right windows and doors – and you will see each of the benefits. Vitamin D has a lengthy list of benefits, including that it can reduce your risk of bone disease, weight gain, and even various cancers.
Future Workplace did a survey recently. They took a group of people and had the tough conversations about the improvements that they would like to see in the workplace. More than 1,600 shared that they would like more access to natural light and the outdoors as the biggest improvement that they could think about. That’s a big group for such a niche request.
As you can imagine, experts are going to sit up and take notice at the feedback of their employees, because it impacts their efficiency and performance. Natural light and vitamin D also ward off sleep loss and depression. In fact, it’s probably the most prevalent during the cold and rainy months, because it’s a huge cause of Seasonal Affective Disorder.
A lot of information, we know. And a lot of it may sound very intimidating. But the great thing about natural light is that it’s very easy to achieve. And it all starts with a call to Valley Windows. We don’t intend to make you switch out every window of your home, (unless you want to) but we do know all of the tricks to ensure that your home is as safe and comfortable as possible.
