What Does Your Doormat Say About You?

What Does Your Doormat Say About YouAs a person, you probably don’t want to be called a doormat. It has some negative connotations. As a part of your home’s footprint (yes, yes, pun intended), it becomes a much more valuable and important decision. Your doormat is yes, where your visitors and household wipe their feet, but it’s also the symbolic entryway to your home and the experiences that you’re about to provide as hosts.

This has come up frequently as a topic with the Valley Windows team – because though our goal is always to provide you with a better view, that’s evolved into offering the best windows AND doors in the industry. Both tend to be framed by doormats and you want to ensure that you have one of the best doormats around.

A couple of things to keep in mind when choosing a doormat:

You want it to be weatherproof. There are some very attractive options out there in the market, either made by local artisans or with unique material features. These are great and here’s our solution: leave them inside. They’ll have just as much value as a rug or mat right inside the door where your attendees can still wipe their feet as needed.

Regardless of where it’s placed, think about the maintenance that will be involved, no matter what material it is made from. You’ll want to factor that into your regular cleaning schedule, because as mentioned – it is your first impression and the calling card when visitors leave. You want to take care of it as best you can.

Finally, have some fun. Like the subject of this post says, “what does your doormat say about you?” You want it to not only compliment the style of your home but also your personality. Are you someone that wants anyone joining an event to experience a pop of colour, or are you much more functional in the sense that you know what a doormat is used for and that’s that? We support both approaches and in fact have ideas for both. Here are some of our favourite themes and trends:

  • Give a greeting. After all, you are welcoming guests into your home, and this is the first instance where they’ll appreciate that and be excited about the times spent ahead. Here’s a good example.
  • It’s your home and you should be able to put your own personal brand wherever you see fit. That’s why doormats like this one are great because you’re sharing your family’s initial, or perhaps another monogram, that will also make you smile and feel proud when you return home after a long day.
  • And let’s not forget what the purpose of a doormat is. BUT that doesn’t mean that you can’t give it a little personalization. We loved this one because it frames our selection of doors, no matter your style, perfectly – getting the job done and looking good at the same time.

As always, here for any questions. Any happy to help you with anything that welcomes you home.
